Roswell is a northern suburb of Atlanta in Fulton County. It consists of about 90,000 residents in about 39 square miles, making is Georgia’s seventh largest city. Only about 30 minutes north of Atlanta, Roswell has a historic feel and plenty of shopping, dining, outdoor activities, and excellent schools.
The city of Rowell maintains many historic homes within the downtown area including Bulloch Hall, the childhood home of President Theodore Roosevelt’s mother, Martha “Mittie” Bulloch, and the Archibald Smith Plantation, the preserved home of one of Roswell’s founding families.
Throughout the year Roswell hosts a number of events including the annual Roswell Arts Festival, the Youth Day Parade, and the Roswell Roots Festival. The city also sponsors the Riverside Sounds Concert Series the first Saturday of the month from May through October. The Alive in Roswell Series is also a big attraction in the city of Roswell. This series is a free, family-friendly festival held concurrently on Historic Canton Street, at Historic Roswell Square, and at Roswell City Hall’s Faces of War Memorial Park the third Thursday evening of each month from April through October.
Along with historic downtown, Roswell is home to many outdoor areas and activities. Roswell is home to over 900 acres of parks and sponsors over 25 athletic programs ranging from soccer, football, basketball, baseball, and swimming for all age groups. It has been recognized as one of the top civic recreation programs in the United States. Roswell is also home to the Chattahoochee Nature Center, which encompasses 127 acres and offers four nature trails that wind through wetlands and woodlands.
Overall, Roswell is a great historic town with unlimited activities for people and families of all ages.
